Tanner began playing soccer at 6, took a break, and rejoined at 7 in a recreational league. His passion for the game was evident. As he approached the U10 level, we sought alternatives to recreational soccer and were recommended to Shane Bell, who coached an older co-ed team. Joining PCFC, we didn’t know what to expect but were amazed by the experience. Tanner honed his technical skills, discipline, and soccer IQ. The team, like a family, grew together for years.
When it was time to advance, Tanner tried out for Hoover-Vestavia Soccer’s MLS Next program and was among the first players selected. His skill impressed the coaches, especially given his young age and smaller stature. Remarkably, all of Shane’s players from that team received offers from high-level programs, leading other coaches to inquire about Shane’s training methods.
Leaving PCFC was bittersweet, but we felt well-prepared thanks to Shane’s coaching. The family-like atmosphere at PCFC is lasting; the players still support each other, years after the team disbanded. Tanner, now in his third year at HVS, continues training with Shane during breaks. PCFC offers valuable experiences for players at any soccer stage. We remain ardent supporters of the program and recommend it to anyone seeking quality soccer training for their child.
